Season's Greetings from Jon Sigurdsson, CEO

On behalf of everyone at Össur, I would like to offer our very best wishes for the festive season to all our customers and partners, and the people who use our products.

For many, there have been new challenges and tough times over the course of the past year. The impact of turbulence in the global economic environment has been felt in different ways. However, I am pleased to report that Össur has maintained a steady and profitable operation throughout 2009. Our sincere thanks go to all our staff and partners for their tremendous work.

Life without limitations remains our foremost aspiration. Our products are all about comfort, control, better mobility and quality of life – all factors that are reflected beautifully in our latest prosthetic product launch, the new RHEO KNEE.

Better products

The result of our constant search for more effective designs, technologies and outcomes, the new RHEO KNEE is a second generation design, featuring breakthrough Bionic Technology by Össur. This life-changing technology is, as yet, unmatched by any other company and we continue to explore its potential with great excitement.

Strong performance

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the investors who support us in our work. This year’s performance helps to ensure that that level of support continues. It also allows us to re-invest a significant proportion of our revenues into R&D, to go on innovating in the future. We were honored, in November, to be invited to ring the NASDAQ stock market closing bell in New York City. This symbolic event marked Össur’s tenth year of trading publically on NASDAQ OMX Iceland, and also commemorated our new dual listing on NASDAQ OMX Copenhagen.

Inspirational customers

We would also like to thank the people we work with. Our aim, at all times, is to exceed our customers’ expectations by delivering the products and services that will help them achieve their goals and those of their patients. And watching the progress of people like Rudy Garcia-Tolson, the young American sportsman and role model who recently became the first double below-knee amputee to become an “Ironman”, and the incredible UK athlete Richard Whitehead who is the amputee World Record holder for marathon running is truly ample reward.
